Has anyone heard news of a possible L&K version?

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard any news of a possible super-luxury L&K version in the future? it's such a beautiful well made car it could do with a little more wood around the door switches, for instance and perhaps instead of the piano black on the centre console. And what about bigger front seats, more body hugging; some more special pearlescent paint colours; special wheels (possible anthracite, black or even white 18" alloys); a Dynaudio sound system as used in the Passat and the part wood steering wheel and famous LED rear lamps, both available in China? Just for a start. Come on, guys, don't go on being such anti-snobs.People got snotty over the wood and beige interior ideas I have had on this forum in the past. Do you all want to live in a bloody coal mine? Black is just not nice to sit inside. A bit of walnut, done as well as on the Superb, is very uplifting and balances all the metal and plastic, even if it's imitation wood. It's not 'just' a Skoda any more!! I know VW see Skoda as a bit of a threat within the group, but we can always try. You know there's a waiting list for some Skodas in the UK?

I have heard nothing of such a car...?

I can completely see where you're coming from, though. The Superb is a great car, and you can't knock it as a luxury car. I personally think it would be a great idea... But I doubt it would sell.

The Superb, it is slightly let down in the details. In my mind, an L&K version would have to be a "Superb CC" because from some angles (3/4 view), it's simply lumpy when compared to (what's in my mind its closest VAG rival) the Passat CC, which is incredibly elegant. Obviously other details as you pointed out would have to be addressed as well.

You mentioned black 18" wheels - I'd like to see a white saloon/hatch one with a bit of a bodykit (similar to the Octy vRS, but a bit less extreme) on black Fabia vRS wheels. Talking of bodykits, why isn't the 3.6 V6 version a true vRS like the old Passat R36? THAT would be one hell of a spectacle.

I think the major problem is that the Superb is a very good value car. For example, the new Audi A1 can set you back up to £18k, compared to a (less equipped, admittedly) Skoda Superb which can cost as little as £16.5k.

Why would they make a Superb to rival a top-spec VW or Audi?

If someone wants more from a VAG car, they then have to pay £20,000 more to get a VW or Audi of the same spec rather than just £1,500 (guestimated) on a better Superb.

On a seperate point that you raised (not to knock the popularity of Skoda - in my opinion, since being owned by VW, they're probably the best cars available in terms of price, depreciation tax, fuel economy, performance and functionality), I believe the reason there's a waiting list for some Skodas in the UK is that they're waiting for the Euro to drop in value against the pound so that it's more economical to import... Until then, there's a "waiting list".

I don't think they'll be making one at least for a year anyway. They don't need to introduce another model to the line-up when you can just spec up an Elegance and it's good value compared to an E-Class or 5-Series anyway.

But I agree it would be lovely if they did and I'd love it if they made it really special, even if it was £30,000-£32,000 for an Estate TDi DSG I think they would sell albeit in limited numbers.
