Just Wondering - Documentation - Drive The Deal

Featured Replies

Hi :hi:

Just thinking ahead..........

Probably have to wait until March / April for my monster :heartbreak: but I'll be :strong: !!!

..........can anyone who has gone through Drive The Deal with Skoda Marlborough tell me how long it was before you received all the vehicle's registration documentation?

I'm just trying to get a clear picture of things. When I get my monster back to the Isle of Man she will have to be re-regisgtered with the Manx Authorities and I will have to get a new number for my current vehicle [so that I can sell it] and put my current registration number on the monster, which is sort of personalised .....MAN followed by date of birth.

Obviously need the UK documentation to give to the Manx Authorities to be able to do this. Unable to keep any UK registration number on your vehicle if you are a permanent resident on the Island.

Thanks in anticipation

Same here. It takes not a second longer than any normal punter buying from any Skoda dealer since with DtD you are just that. A normal punter buying from a normal dealer albeit from its Corporate arm (hence don't expect any service or phone calls). But so what. I got over £2900 discount. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Yep, bought two cars in the last 5 years from DtD, saves the hassle of trying to negotiate a discount, doesn't matter which dealer the car comes from as they deliver to the door and then any probs and servicing etc can be sorted by your local dealer. I ordered my Fabia Estate Greenline 2 in July and it was delivered last week, so a 4 month wait which is par for the course I believe. Just made a couple of calls to Marlborough in that period to check on the status and all was well, saved me around £2,400 off list.

DtD are great, all they do is direct you to a participating dealer, a bit like an agent, couldn't be more hassle free really.

Thanks for the info on the doucmentation.

It's put my mind at rest that I can get "legal" with Manx Plates pretty soon after picking the vehicle up. I will also be able to re-license my curent vehicle with a new registration number as soon as I get the nod from Marlborough.

I was making the query as when I bought the Renault I have now the "broker" was insiting on keeping the log book for 6 months [i assume the deal must have been some fiddle connected to fleet vehicles]. So I had to copy all the manx law and send it to them with a proviso that as I was a retired police officer I would have no excuse to offer the court if I was prosecuted for running on English plates when a permanent residence. Eventually they relented but it took me just under 3 months to get the doucmentation from them!

Thanks again. This is a great and friendly forum - which I have to read EVERY day, much to the annoyance of the wife!!
