door sill protectors

Featured Replies

Got my door sill protector kit yesterday. Nice kit (8 pieces for £38 but free with my service plan voucher). However, instructions are lousy - worse than MFI.

Talks about using the "templates included with the package" but there aren't any templates.

No drawings of how they go, no markings on the pieces except, on the front door pieces, an arrow pointing forwards. (Though you still can't tell from that if it is for left or right side.)

Anyway, with care it is fairly obvious how they fit, and I think are well worth getting.

These are the non logo ones. I don't think it would be worth paying an extra £30 or so for logos.

So its no-goes for logos  :peek:

You should heat the cars metal surface with a hairdryer so it can stick better

I think there are too many complex curves for them to fit out the whole surface. They do the job though.

Without the templates I used the piece itself, with tapes still on, as its own template. Marked the ends with a soft pencil on the original surface. You can kind of feel when the shape is in the right place. After marking, you peel the tape off the stickies, then carefully press protector into place.

Didn't heat anything up - well it was at least 5 degrees while I was doing it!!

But I did thoroughly clean the paintwork with spirit.

They seem well fixed and snug - I like 'em. Especially for nothing!

Could these rear ones be done with carbon wrap

You got a part number?

Thanks

I got a set of plain black ones with last years freebie voucher deal. Only problem was, in spite of thorough cleaning, not all the pads stuck down well, so I cheated and added a little contact adhesive to them. No trouble since.

I am sure these are the ones for my Blackline http://www.superskod...nresills-v3.jpg

That is the set that I got for Christmas for my vRS from the Mrs.

Just need some time to fit them now.

Here is mine, from superskoda....
