Aerosol paint - no longer available from Skoda ?

Featured Replies

Went to the dealers yesterday to order a can of aerosol paint (to colour code new parking sensors) and was amazed to be told that spray cans are no longer stocked and cannot be ordered. The only paint showing up on their database were touch-up (stonechip) kits. Seems a very retrograde step to me.

Where are folk getting their paint from these days then ?

The bigger Halfrauds used to do a mixing service.

I know Halfrauds have black magic on the shelf.

Cheers guys,

Will check out the local Halfords, although I was in there recently and didn't notice a mixing service. If not then I'll try Fluffs link.

Thread resurrection time ........

Found out that the local Halfords did indeed have a Holts Minimix service where they supply aerosol cans mixed according to the cars VIN data paint code. Thinking this would be quick and convenient I handed over the details and waited. The paint that was provided is a country-mile away from what it should be - it's nowhere near the correct shade.

Took it back the following day - after only spraying a tiny amount out of the can, I was advised that it must be the fault of Skoda for providing incorrect paint code information (to who?) I asked for another can to be mixed but was told I would have to pay again. I asked for a refund and was told that mixed paint does not get refunded ! Non of this was displayed at the point of sale. After discussing it with the manager I got no satisfaction and had to ask for contact details of their head office to request a refund.

Ten days later I am still waiting for a reply. Emails to customer services only get a computer generated reply with a reference number that so far have not been followed up on. Phone calls to their contact number only gets a recorded message with no option to speak to an operator.

Not impressed at all. Would suggest to anyone thinking about using this paint matching service at Halfords to be aware of the problems that may ensue. I know I'll not be giving them any more of my business in the future, I will continue to pursue them though - Sale of Goods act and all that. I notice they're getting a pasting over on Pistonheads at the moment too, with folk complaining that they can't get any responses to their queries. Good customer relations eh ?

Off to order some from Fluffs link where I wish I'd gone in the first place.

As far as I believe, TPS still sell it. I got a price the other day for a spray can, not cheap though

Thanks RadioTwo but it was my local TPS that pointed out that aerosols were no longer listed on the database. It's worth double checking though, I'll give em a call in the morning.

Cheers.

If you want to PM me your reg and your number, and I will look for you first thing in the morning!

The spray can part numbers are still on the TPS system, but weather or not they can be ordered is another thing!

Chris

paints4u are worth a go.

Thanks cjb and radioone.

PM sent to radioone with the details.

Link from cjb added to my (short) list in case manufacturer stuff isn't available.

Your colour paint was made obsolete as of 14/01/2010!!!!

Thanks very much for all your efforts Chris. Will pursue the other links instead.

Perhaps I should have ordered the paint when the wife first mentioned that she wanted reversing sensors fitted (months ago) - but we'll not mention that will we ????

Thanks again to everyone who helped.

I know this is of topic BUT.....

...Why do so many posters refer to Halfords as Halfrauds??

My long experience of the company is very good indeed

They have always been helpful, when asked and they do good offers

SO WHY????
