Fuel efficiency and economy

Featured Replies

What is your experience with fuel efficiency and economy with 1.8 TSI?

I have done 8k miles on my 1.8TSI Scout. Real average of around 36MPG.This is mainly main roads locally , and two 1K mile trips from Inverness to Southampton.

Have a look at the figures in my signature. I'm up to about 4000 miles now and still seeing a gradual improvement.

6-7 litres on motorway, 8-9 litres in city.

Had my 1.8 with DSG for 10 weeks and 2500 miles

Overall average is 33mpg from fuel use and 36 on the maxidot - real mixed bag of driving including those icy mornings with engine ticking over while I clear the windows then crawling in urban traffic through the snow.

On half a dozen 80-100 mile motorway trips the maxidot has shown 39-42 mpg - so around 36-39 in real terms.

I am hoping for better figures in the summer or my decision to abandon my 51mpg diesel is going to be more painful than I anticipated :'(

Low forties on long steady motorway trips. Low to mid thirties otherwise.

I'm not sure I'd put fuel economy very high on my expectations when choosing a 1.8TSi though.
