Windows Opened At Random

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My parents have a 55-plate Octavia 2.0TDi Elegance. Over the weekend, I noticed that all 4 of the windows were fully open (thankfully, this appears to have happened after it had snowed, so the inside of the car hadn't been redecorated white!). After I shut the windows, I brushed the snow that had got onto one of the seats out of the car - as I was doing this, I heard a "bzzt" noise and found that all 4 windows opened themselves a very small amount. Whilst I was doing this, the key was in one of my hands, however I am sure none of the buttons got pressed or knocked.

I've done a fault scan and not found anything that seems relevant. The keys were kept out of the way during the day, so I'm sure they haven't been sat on, etc. Any ideas?

Thanks :)

This has happened to me a few times, but has always been the keys being pressed whilst in a pocket, or other keys folded over the car keys & pushing on the button. Maybe really double check the keys are not being touched and see how things go over the next few days? I know the feeling of seeing the car with the windows down & no explanation, touch wood I havnt had any more problems now that Im a bit more careful where I put the keys when Im walking away from the car though!

Yeah, it's not a fun feeling. :( I don't think the keys got touched (first time they were out of the way, second time i had a loose grip on them), but, like you say, I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days. After doing a Google search, I did see one post on Honest John that said it might be a controller in the driver's door getting wet. At least it's under warranty if anything does go wrong, at the moment ...
