Electric Window Problem

Featured Replies

Yesterday my front passenger side window wouldn't move, when I pressed the button it sounded like a crunching sound coming from the motor, so I took the door card off to find the metal wire had come off the spool and got chewed up, i'm going to need a new metal wire to replace it, does anyone know if you can buy the metal wire seperately or am I looking at a new ancileries carrier to replace the entire set up. Any advice would be appreciated

you can buy a repair kit from ebay but a new regulator from euro car parts isn't expensive and comes with the pressed metal section too, easier if yours are bolted in but i reckon by 07 it will be riveted in?

ricardo where did you find the kit?

I have exactly the same problem. I can find only whole windows regulator but not the repair kit only.

Any help would be much appreciated

You can get them off ebay, about £20 IIRC

thanks

Does anybody has some instructions as I'm not entirely sure how to fit everything.

Disassembly is straight forward, if the cable is ruined you could just cut them however I'd advise taking some photo's of the layout before hand for reference. For putting the new cable on it took 2 of us and a few screwdrivers a while to lever it all on, the pulley wheels have slots on them which need to be lined to get the cable on.

Hope this helps

My cable was ruined indeed. Do I have to disassemble whole windows regulator first or should I just try to put the replacement cable in place?

Thanx

You will need to take the centre spool apart, can't remember if the regulator needs too come out aswell, i've a feeling it might
