Ramifications of service interval change

Featured Replies

I've just done an oil change on my 1.9 tdi and want to reset the service display myself

It has been on the variable service interval (GQ1) but I would like to do my own servicing now so I intend resetting the service interval to 10k as descibed in the owners manual.

Is it as simple as that or does a Skoda dealer have to program something?

Thanks

It's as simple as that.

Changing it back to variable requires VAGCOM or similar - but no sensible person would run one of these diesels on variable service intervals unless their operating conditions were exceptional, eg. 90% long motorway runs. The camshaft loadings on these engines are too marginal for variable servicing to make sense for the average user. Even with fixed interval servicing and the specified oil, the valve cams and followers are the weak link on this engine.

Thanks rotodiesel

I've just reset the display with no problems.
