Fuel consumption data

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if its normal for the fuel consumption figure to restart (instead of memorising the last figure before switching the engine off). I drove 200 miles up north yesterday (with only 120 miles on the clock beofre setting off as I'd only had it delivered last week) and it was showing 38 mpg overall. After a break, I started the engine and the figures had restarted to 12mpg, 19mpg etc etc......in other words, it was as if I had cleared its memory of the previous journey. I'm pretty sure you should be able to accumilate an overall fugure - especially after 400-500 miles worth of driving. Please dont get confused with the instant figure-I'm talking about the overall figure. I've got maxi dot....can I go in and alter it?

Normally there is two memories on the trip computer, memory 1 and memory 2.

Memory one resets between restarts, memory 2 persists. You switch between 1 & 2 by pressing the reset button on the the indicator stalk.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.....................I'm talking about memory 2 (the one that persists).....basically, it won't persist! It's ok until you switch the engine off and then your back to square one.

Memory 1 keeps its data if you continue your trip within two hours, ie you're allowed up to a 2 hour break in a journey.

Memory 2 is supposed to keep data for a total of 99 hours 59 minutes trip time or 9,999k whichever comes first. In reality, my memory 2 resets very much earlier, there is an earlier thread here about this apparent fault.

All memories will reset if the battery is disconnected.
