Seat Ibiza 08 1.4 Sport

Featured Replies

This is the wife's new car that replaced the Tigra

It's a current model on an 08 plate, dolphin grey (don't know the real colour name) with the 84hp 1.4 petrol.

It's nice looking car. I've always liked Seat styling. Pretty much unblemished (allegedly) coming from an elderly owner.

It's got 14k on the clock.

No squeaks or rattles on the inside. In fact the inside is a very nice place to be. Good supportive seats, nice leather wheel and a very minimalist sleek dash. Very nice indeed.

The display is a bit tricky for me. the Rev counter and speedo are almost indistinguishable from each other with almost the same numbering on them and are a little hard to see through the steering wheel.

The radio controls are pretty impenetrable. I think I'll have to resort to the manual shortly. Seems to have some sort of voice activated functionality, but doesn't seem to like my accent too much. Also has a phone button but will need to check if the car has bluetooth.

On the road, a bit slow for me but I'm used to the vRS. Wife also thought it a little slow but she's been driving the vRS a lot too. It's adequate. Suspension is firm but not too crashy. Seems to nip around the corners well enough but obviously it's hard to push things when the temp doesn't rise above -10C.

Useful boot. Good lights, seems to have the fog light cornering system, looks a little silly to me from the outside but I like things simple.

Big problem which isn't really a fault of the car, it has some really quite nice 17" alloys which terrified the wife on one of her first trips out in the car. Light weight + big wheels = really bad in the snow.

Too late for snow tyres now but something to get sorted before next winter.

I took it out and didn't find it too bad but I think the conditions were a little better and I've a lot more experience of driving inappropriate cars in the snow.

All in a nice little car. Seems well bulld and nice to drive and be in. Too slow for me but the FR would be a little cracker.
