Fitting in a CB Radio. Places, dimensions?

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I am not yet a Yeti owner, currently I use a 2008 Fabia Estate 1.6 company car. Now I am 167000 kms so it will be changed soon and 90% it will be a Yeti 1.8 Tsi 4x4.

As I drive a lot and I do not like traffic jams and speed cameras I use CB radio. Which I plan to use in Yeti as well.

Does anybody have experience installing CBs in Yeti?

I am thinking of glove-compartment, can anybody measure the size of it (it is not in any brochure)?

Also maybe inside the Jumbo box (again does anybody have the sizes)?

(Now In my Fabia the radio is hidden in the glove compartment, power is coming directly from the battery I will try to attach pictures.)

Hi Robert, and welcome to the forum.

CB radio......................I used to had a d use CB in my younger days, infact I still nave my trusty Nato 2000 multimode somewhere

Having installed CB in my dads car when I was still at school, I would have thought the best place would be the side where the centre dash come down, with the top of the CB against the panels.

It wcould be fitted where your right knee is (assuming your car id left hand drive, so the CB would be very near the gear lever.

Am I making myself clear??? :giggle:

Macdemon,

My problem is that the CB radio which I will buy for the new car (Magnum S9 45W SSB  ) is pretty big 195mm wide 60mm high and 290mm deep.

So my only option is the glove compartment. In my Fabia the CB is in the glove compartment. As I saw on the Yeti in the dealership

in the Yeti the "door" itself is the compartment as its itself opening down opposed to the Fabia where there is a "shelf" and a separate door.

I am wondering if the 195 x 60 x 290 would fit in -even sideways is OK-.

Other option would be the jumbo box but I can remember the size and depth from the demo car at the dealership.

Wow, thats pretty big.

Maybe its worth investing in a smaller on for the car

Maybe.

For my future Yeti I want to use a different radio and hide everything in the glove-box. Somebody

PLEASE measure me the exact size of it:

If you are using a unit with all the controls on the mic or a loose head, then there is plenty of room under the driver's seat. Wiring can then be through the central console. I think the "Jumbo" box insides would be too small for a CB transmitter.
