Oil Light warning query

Featured Replies

Whilst out in the car today and after a bit of spirited driving my oil light warning popped up and began to flash, I pulled over an turned the engine off, checked oil and was fine (only changed around 1k ago) left the car for a while pondering whether to get it recovered or not and decided to re-started the engine and was greated by no light. I decided to drive again and after a few mins the light came on flashed twice then went out (stopped again and checked the oil, engine bay and under the car to no avail) I continued my journey and the light hasnt come back on.

Now im home and its in the garage what should I look for as an issue, I do have some electrical gremlins such as 3 doors only working with central locking, when it decides to work, and the fans not working unless I slam the passanger door, is this another electrical issue or am I looking at something worse.

Thanks

Sid

Orange light = oil level a bit low. (probably not your problem)

Red light = lack of oil / pressure. I would suggest that maybe the oil pickup from the bottom of the sump was well on its way to being blocked. It is a cheap part to replace, but requires the sump to be dropped (and thus an oil change). Changing the pick up has been covered quite a bit recently so a search should get you started, tis a pretty easy job from what I hear.

Doors not locking: possible water ingress into the loom / connector block for the CCV in the drives door on the window motor assembly (again a common issue)

Fans: not really sure why slamming the passenger door resolves that, so I'll keep quiet for that issue

red flashing indicates oil pressure not oil level

change the oil pickup first if that solves it great if not then it could be pump failing

do not drive the car until the pickup pipe has been changed or you could end up wrecking te engine

this is all to common and imo skoda should put this into there service schedule
