Wheel nut questions

Featured Replies

Hopefully a couple of easy questions to answer:

i) Will the wheel bolts for an alloy wheel-equipped car be suitable for securing steel wheels (used for our winter tyres)?

ii) Should the car (a March 2010 Octavia) have come with a tool for the removal of the plastic caps from the wheel bolts? I can't see anything in the toolkit in the spare wheel to remove these but the manual mentions something to do that job.

yes and yes the plastic caps should have a removal tool in the spare wheel kit its a little u shape black plastic puller, if not a pair of long nose pliers will do the job

This is the tool (this is almost the actual size):

providing the steel wheels are genuine VAG wheels then the OE bolts will be fine, if you use merc etc wheels then the bolts needed may well be different.

Thanks guys - that answers both questions, since the wheels are genuine Skoda, purchased with the car when it was new for this purpose.
