Squeak from Dash - UPDATE as possible solution

Featured Replies

The dashboard on the passenger side ( front passenger door A Pillar passenger door window demist vent connection ) has developed a squeak.

Have tried Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care to see if that would lubricate and stop this annoying squeak but to no avail.

Anyone else had a problem with this dash panel and if so how di you stop the squeak.

It seems to be the join between this flat dash panel and the main body of the dash.

I have used GT85 to cure such squeaks in the past..(contains teflon which serves quite well as lubricant)

I tried silicone lube, but it still wouldn't go away, the squeak on mine would stop if I touched the glovebox door. I think I have got used to it by now.

I have the exact same squeak on my 2008 Scout.

Had the dealer take a look, they put some felt pads on the glovebox but it didn't cure it.

If you push against the panel between the glovebox lid and door it stops.

Have learnt to ignore it now, but thinking about it I haven't heard it for a long time, maybe it doesn't like the cold!

I wondered if it was the cold weather so have reactivated the glove box aircon vent

I had the exact same squeak which was traced to the dash end panel. Took it off and very firmly pushed it back on. Now been fine for months

Glad I'm not alone. I have a squeak/creak that is from the glove box hinge ? nearest the passenger door. By putting lateral pressure on the glove box door, open or closed , cures it. Was wondering if silcone lube may be an option. May investigate the end panel also.

My Scout also has a squeak/creak from passenger side of dash. Dealer did manage to fix for a short period but it came back. Very bad at the moment with the colder weather. Dealer said will take a look again when it gets a bit warmer as doesn't want to make it worse stripping the dash in cold weather.

Fingers Crossed -

I had a good search around the area by the air vent outlet from the passenger side of the dash board in to the air vent for the front passenger door window demist...and think! i might have found the problem hence the posting incase it can help others.

In the Front Passenger Footwell

Left hand side - low down

There is a small plastic panel that locates itself in to the rubber door seal and also up against the underside of the dash board ( it buts up against the dash panel that curves down and that makes up the left hand side of the dash that sits against the gloive box door )

I have inserted a cut piece of old Autoglym Aqua Dry Chamois

As the squeak seems to be this small panel rubbing against the underside of the dashboard just by the air vents under the dash that warm your feet

So fingers corssed as it really is an annoying pitch of a squeak

- Now just need to find something to stop the glasses in the rear view mirror roof case rattling

and

also something to stop the banging of the front passenger seat belt buckle against he B Pillar Plastic Trim when the front passenger seat is empty as the latter keeps me thinking something has hit the car while driving

As regards glasses rattling in sunglasses holder, i have a glasses cleaning cloth folded up in there with my sunglasses, voila no rattles from there

Been discussed on here before too. You just need to adjust the height of the seatbelt

My potential solution for the squeaky rattle from the passenger sidedash panel ( vent pipe to door demist ) did not work.

Car went in to MasterTech and they had it for a day - they heard the sound after a test drive with me.

They placed soft pads behind the panel and also noted the vent pipe for door demist was not located properly.

So fingers crossed.

Squeaks seem to be a problem with skoda's (having had two myself and my brother having another)....

If the squeak you get comes from the engine area and its worst when shifting the weight of the car forward and backward, and engaging the clutch up and down, this is more than likely the console bushes (found this out from lots of research and the skoda dealers said the same when I put it through a service) I am looking to have new ones fitted to replace mine but its at a cost of around £180 on my Fabia vrs. Octavia's are generally cheaper to replace as they are different design.

As for dash squeaks and rattles... the only way I find to get rid of them is to strip a panel off at a time until the squeaking stops to find out which panel is rattling etc
