Vrs oil/fuel

Featured Replies

What grade of oil does the vrs use ? Have some 5w30 for my rx8 but presume it needs something different for top ups

Also is there any advantage to use super unleaded?

Thanks and happy new year

The oil should have the VW number on it ie 504 00, 505 00, 507 00. Fabia's are on 10K servicing I recall and that is a different oil to the variable service oil used in Octavias. Whatever you use, make sure it is the proper VW code is my advice.

RX8 has a total loss lub system and horrendous petrol consumption I have read although I love the looks and howl of the ****el (the start of this word has been turned to astrixs by the Briskoda website, poort Dr Felix's unfortunate name) engine, think there is a new one, turbo I expect which will finally be the car it should have been.

Thanks I'll buy a liter when I pick up the car

Rx8 uses 1 litre every 1200 miles ( on average ) that I found which not great but not horrendous as made out by people. Petrol was bad normally I got around 18 mpg although on a decent long run you could get 23-26. Is a fantastic car and the engine noise is great every time, revs up to 9000 rpm. Will miss it after 2 years but time to move on

Any comment re super unleaded ? It made no difference in the RX8 just wondered if worth it with the vrs ?

Thanks

Hi There,

See the post from me earlier.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/183720-vrs-fabia-ii-fuel-oil-and-tyre-pressures/

Hope this is OK; don't know how to hyperlink it. It seems to be linked OK.

I have actually posted to oilman just to confirm, as I used Opie Oils for my RX8. However looking at Castrol/Mobile and Opie sites the 1.4 180 DSG is not listed as an engine so still a little confused on the oil.

Oilman should know though (i hope....)

  • 2 weeks later...

My Dealer supplied a VW 504 00/507 00 Approved 5w30 oil. It says its for vw group petrol and diesels on longlife servicing, is this correct? - vrs1.4tsi

Cheers

Contacted Oilman through the RX8 forums as he seems to be much more active over there, than with the Skoda forums.

This is the link he sent me and says all these oils meet the required VW standard for this engine.

I ordered 2 x 1 litre of the Castrol as top up oil and see how much the VRS uses when it arrives.

Hope this helps
