60K Service Costs Enquiry?

Featured Replies

Hi folks - wanted your thoughts on this. I've been quoted

Dont sound bad to me.

80k service (same as 40k) includes

Oil

Oil filter

Fuel Filter

Air Filter

Pollen Filter

Inspection and road test.

Is you engine a 100 bhp ATD engine? If so they if you check the paper work the cambelt isnt due to 80,000 miles iirc. But to be honest I usually advise them at 60k anyhow, they are under alot of strain running them PD injectors (which is why they are so wide) and it pays to be safe than sorry.

And if you are getting brake changed at that price aswell i'd snap it up. A regular 40K service is close to

Hope this isn't rude jumping into someone else's thread but Ross, my Octy VRS is coming up for 20k service soon. How much should that cost, what gets done and I can't remember how much notice you get on the display (from previous Octys I had) Does the Skoda website list service intervals and costs does anyone know?

Living in Northamptonshire, I have to choose where to take it (since I got it from Luton which is closed now). Milton Keynes, Peterborough or Bedford. Any recommendations Ross??

Well, only before christmas I had the Air-Con Control Unit completely replaced as it was faulty - I got a face full of furnace one night on my way home from Oxford and so suspected something was awry. I've got a rough idea of the cost - I heard someone say around

Well I can recommend Milton Keynes..lol.

We also run the Luton service dept on Hatters Way, its a Mazda dealer but a Skoda service agent, warranty approved etc.

You should get a couple of hundred miles notice but 20k is a service interval. 20K service roughly should be around

With regard to worn track-rods.. please elaborate - where are they? how do they get worn? what influences wear rate? speed? breaking? the road surface being driven over?

Have no idea to be honest. I bought the car with 53k miles on it and I noticed that the brand new driver's side had worn bald on the inner edge by the 60k service. As far as I know, they only replaced the driver's side one so it may well have just been a one off.... maybe Ross or one of the techies can expand on what causes it as I suspect you drive a lot more sympathetically than I do ;)

Chris

how much is the first service on variable ? I've already done 7.5k miles since September

Then you still have a fair way to go.

But dont worry we will sort you out when the time comes.

Ross-forgot to mention the 20k service will be the octys first service. Does that make a difference to cost? If it comes into your garage, can you arrange a black magic Fabia vRS courtesy car? - I know there's one there! :D

If the 20k service is the first one then yes it makes a difference, it will be a variable service.

As I see it your question has been answered so the thread is free to go wherever it wants to after that point.

erm, the idea is I'd like other peoples response to my initial question - I'm still awaiting feedback more on the track-rod stuff..

thankyou for your initial response though Ross..

getting this thread back on track.. Are battery's likely to go on much beyond 3 yrs in fabias ? Any warning signs to look out for on the battery itself that is should be replaced? Fabias have them wrapped up nicely - not like my old Nissan Sunny - exposed to all and sundry.. ;)

Regards,

Track rod ends link the steering rack to the hub assy. The are a smallish ball joint. Sometimes they get play in them which can be felt when rocking the wheel from side to side. Not changed many on Fabia's to be honest.

Worn track rod ends are an MOT failure and can cause excessive tyre wear.

And battery on a Fabia is usually around three years, sometimes more sometimes less depending on how often and how far its driven.

Its under alot of load due to the PAS.

Is this a routine part of the 60k service, or is this something that is just tested and then an advisory given? I'm not aware of my battery being changed and it didn't appear on my invoice, so I'm assuming after 4 years mine is still going strong ;)

Chris

No not at all, there is no service interval for the vehicle battery, only needs changing if its faulty.
