Removing rear door cards.

Featured Replies

Ok, so I do try and search but the search on this forum doesn't seem that good.

So I'm trying to remove the rear door cards to fix the leak, but for the life of my I can't get the thing off. undone the 3 screws and now trying to pop of the clips. one clip has popped off but I think I may have broken the bracket that the clip attaches onto and not the clip :'(

Is there any special secret that I'm missing or is it just everything I try and do ends up with stuff getting broken lol

cheers for any help, Si

You should be able to just pull the door card (assuming all required screws are removed behind the handle and the speaker grille). If the bracket that holds the clip has broken hopefully it will bend back, it's usually the case that the clips break themselves - they're cheap enough to get from a dealer and a dealer should give you the new improved ones.

yeh just pulling worked but had to pull bloody hard and pry apart with a spatula, for some reason I always end up using kitchen tools :S

Now the problem is how do you take the card off fully, the guides don't tell you this. All the clips are off its just the handle and the top bit at the window lol

thanks, Si

got the handle off now, its now only just stuck on, right at the top at the window.

I'm being cautious because I can't be bothered spending money on a new door card lol

thanks, si :p

You don't need to take it right off - once the clips are released you can pivot it upwards to obviate having to disconnect the door handle...

Thanks for the reply, that's the guide I've been using it doesn't describe the actual taking of the card of that well. I've never seen one off so don't really know what's holding it on.

the video on youtube

says at the end about a strip at the top of the door, I think this may be the one wedged in between the door card and the window. but can't get it to budge lol

Right oke, just thought I'd update incase someone is trying to figure out how they come off, the top the the door card has a lip which hooks on. I had to put a "large poking device" inside the door card and knock it with a hammer to prise it up and off.

I'll take a picture before I put it back together incase anyone runs into the same problem as me in the future.

cheers, Si

As I said earlier, you don't need to take it off !

lol missed your comment sorry.

I would have just let it be but the top white plastic bracket that's glued onto the door card has fallen off, so I need to get that glued back on (pain) so needed the whole thing off to make it easier.

I shall be leaving the other side on at the top and just pull it up for sure, its a PITA :p

thanks, Si

The first time is always the hardest. Mine practically fall off if I remove them now. :D

Winding the windows down can help... As can trying to "peel" the top off from one end... i.e. Starting at the back of the door, moving forwards. Just pulling it straight up, you're not focussing your efforts on one spot. Put more pressure towards the front or the back of the window and it'll just peel off.
