Where have my nipples gone?

Featured Replies

On my mark 1 Octavia I used to regularly let the air out of the expansion tank to allow me to squeeze in an extra gallon or more of fuel; not every time but generally when I was setting out on a really long journey or when I had a 5p off/litre voucher.

But my new Octybus is nippleless :-(

So, do I still have an expansion tank and if so, how do I fill it..?

Yes you do have an expansion tank, I have on mine, it is also nippleless, the only way I can get the fuel tank to fill brim full is to slightly withdraw the filling nozzle and to steadily let the last few litres go into the tank.

Looks like I'll just have to fill it up slooooowly. Have you happened to notice how many extra litres you can get in as on the Mk 1 it was about 6 or 7

Usually I can fill mine until the pump automatically stops, then stick another fiver or so in there. Sorry that isn't a very technical answer, but I thought most cars were like this, I didn't realise it had an expansion tank.
