Bulb Failure Warning

Featured Replies

I have a two year old TDI 170 Elegancee with 51,000 miles. Since new, today is the second time that the bulb failed warning light has come on. First it says one bulb, then another, then another, eventually warning that every bulb has a fault. Last time this happened it cured itself after two or three stop starts of the engine. I have checked all light are ok, oddly the indicator flashing is twice as fast, often a sign of a failed bulb. But all indicators are ok.

Has this happened to anyone else, and if so was there any long term cure?

I had an almost identical set of circumstances, requiring a replacement ECU, which totally cured it.

I would have taken it in to the dealer the first time it happened.

ECU's are very expensive, if this is the problem you want it fixing before your warranty runs out (2 years unlimited mileage + a 3rd year with a 60,000 mile cap).

At two years old / 51,000 miles drop it in for them to check for fault codes. Even if they can't see the problem the dealer visit / complaint will be logged and will help any possible future claims outside of the warranty.
