Had this happen a few weeks ago after washing my vRS cr170.

Sounded a bit like a belt slipping/screeching.

I thought it was like power steering belt but a buddy of mine told me there is no belt for the power steering.

Never happened again until now.. Sounded not good for a new car if anyone were passing..

Anyone else come across this??

I only appears to happen in damp/cold weather but clears up after 30 seconds to a minute

Hope you are right.. just been reading there about VW starter motors screeching upon startup

It will be the alternator drive belt due to being under load at start up.

Not the end of the world, and may just need adjusting
