common fault?- door seal

Featured Replies

hi all,

woke up to find the pas rear footwell on my mk1 octy doing a good swimming pool impression :( could see a small river running from the door seal down the carpet..

is it a common fault for the doorseals to leak? any idea of cost of new doorseal? main stealer part?

cheers, steve

Did someone fix a window regulator and not put the polythene seal back on? That, along with an iffy drain, can cause water to mount up and overflow over the panel and into the car

cheers interphase-

funny enough the polythene seal was in tatters ( door jammed shut- central locking knackered..) someones been in there before :'( although all the drain holes were clear.. im trying scrappys for a latch and try and get the door seal too  then do a decent sealing job with the polythene seal and hopefully my water woes will be over

steve

I was surprised how much water runs inside the door. You cetrainly need an intact poly sheet to keep the water out.

On my car, the previous owner had the speakers 'professionally' upgraded. They cut into the sheet to fit the bigger speakers, and with my driveway being on a slope the water ran in!

I was wondering why the windows misted up so easily!
