mute button for swing radio

Featured Replies

While I know the radio automatically mutes when an incoming phone call comes in but I have not discovered any way to mute the radio apart from obviously turning down the volume or switching off the radio. I was so used to this function on a Kia Ceed wheel mounted control . Thanks for any assistance

A mute button is only any use if it's on the steering wheel.

If you have to go to the effort of reaching the head unit you may as well just turn it off!

My sentiments exactly ! I thought by pressing maybe the volume wheel I could mute sound but all I achieved was activating the phone voice activation mode ! Thanks anyway , so it appears there is no way this can be achieved then ?

I found that if you press and hold the volume scroll wheel long enough it switches the radio off. Though in truth that is more of a faff that just reaching all that distance to the rear on/off switch which puts the radio into mute instantly (by also switching it off). But in saying all that my MX-5 has a mute switch on the steering wheel which does work a treat.

All this talk about the mute button reminded me that I did once have a mute button on the Octavia. I'd forgotten about it, as when I fitted the oem Bluetooth kit, I had it changed so that it answered the phone or started the voice operation of the Bluetooth car kit.

I never used the mute button when it was set up for muting, so never missed it.

I would love to be able to start the Columbus on zero volume though. I frequently just listen to the sat nav & traffic reports and nothing else whilst driving, and don't want the head unit to be on. The start up volume adjustment suggests that you can set it to zero, but it doesn't on Elsie.
