Convenience Unit Part Numbers ending in C, E, F or H - Which one

Featured Replies

I have an 01 fabia elegance. The convenience unit / central locking control unit is faulty (diagnosed with VAG=COM)

Part number on my unit is 6Q0 959 433 C

Searching the web suggests that 6Q0 959 433 E is the most common unit. Also available is 6Q0 959 433 F & 6Q0 959 433 H

What is the diffetence between these units? are they interchangeable?

On looking at a Russian website the part numbers seem to refer to LHD and RHD - with and without alarm system - the site is a bit ambiguous.

My car has an alarm system (dont care if alarm is disabled when I fit replacement unit).

What I need to know is, if I find an E, F or H can it be programmed to operate the central locking and electric windows - ignoring the alarm if necessary.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

ColinK

PS I see in another post that the kvw 1-- auto window close module works with 6Q0 959 433 e/f/h - no mention of C

What might be worth trying, is ringing up a dealer with your VIN and ask them for the part number, or see if it's written on the currently installed one?

As much as I directly can't help answer the question, it could be worth considering the ramifications removing the alarm has on the insurance. . .

Also, consider this a free bump.

I have now found that some of these units have different physical connectors. However the "6Q0 959 433 C" and "6Q0 959 433 E" are physically identical, ie they both have 3 multi sockets.

So back to my initial questions. It is easy to get the "6Q0 959 433 E" and more difficult to get the "6Q0 959 433 C" (dealer price 350 +vat).

Will the E model work in my car, even if I loose the alarm feature.

Thanks ColinK

I have the C model in my 02 Fabia Elegance and I suspect it's leeking 0.3A when the car is not being used. Looked it up in ETKA and saw that the C model is being replaced with the E model so now I'm looking for an 6Q0 959 433 E from Ebay.
