Service plan

Featured Replies

With my lovely new Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG (arrived Christmas eve. Hows that for timing?) I'm being offerred a service plan.

The paperwork that I've received is quoting a litle over £22 per month for 3 years with an expected annual mileage of 12,000 miles.

That tots up to over £800 for 3 services (plus penalty costs for exceeding stated mileage plan).

Sounds a lot to me. Any thoughts or views?

If it helps I paid £1050 for 4 services for my Fiat 500, no milage penalties, & included everything listed on the service schedule, Oil, brake fluid, because it was variable servicing they calculated services every 18k miles.

I calculated the individual 4 service costs at the current rate & found it was just on £150 cheaper to do it this way, plus i would have saved on any yearly price increase, along with the VAT increase that came along.

I would recommend you do this and work out if its worth it.

Or wait for 3 months and take up their £299 offer for 2 services, if they are still offering it.

Sounds like an awful lot to me. I personally wouldn't touch it.

If it ties you to a dealer, they should give a discout. As they are guarenteed to get your business then.

I'd ask for a sensible price as they'll be getting all my business and I won't be ringing round comparing servicing prices each year.

Ask your local dealer. A few people have mentioned this on the forum recently. It is for any car over 3 months old. Best to check with them what it covers etc.

If you signed up for the £299 package before 31/12/10 you also got £100 of vouchers thrown in!

But you could only sign up for it if your car was over 3 month oldemoticon-0149-no.gif
