Autoleads cellular mute lead

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone had any dealings with fitting an AutoLeads Cellular Mute Lead to a Fabia vRS ? (54 plate if that makes a difference)

I'm not really up on these things but I'm having a car kit supply'd and fitted by my work but I don't fancy them drilling and mounting a crap speaker under the passenger footwell so i'm going to get one of these to give to the installation guy when he comes to fit it :P

The car kit is a Nokia CK-7W.

Any idea if they will work together and if thats the right one for my car if they do ?

Cheers

Jonathan

If you don't get an answer on here for this, PM me and I'll give you the details of the fitting guy I've used for kits in the past. Drop him an email and I'm sure he'll be able to give you the answer.

BTW, I'm shortly going to have the 7W kit installed into my Fabia. Are you getting a non-drill 'DashMount' bracket? Just wondering which one you chose, from the choice of two?

Yeh I am mate but i don't what make it is as its supply'd as part of the standard installation

Are there 2 different models, both for different fitting positions or just two different suppliers to choose from ?

DashMount is the actual company - there two different versions, one fits lower than the other. Click here for the actual Skoda page on the DashMount website.

I think I'll plump for the higher one, as the kit in my last car did get battered occasionally from passengers getting in, due to it being at knee height! Let me know what you think when you've checked the page.

Let me know how you get on. I'm shopping around for fitting prices on mine at the moment, as my usual guy is a bit pricey this time I think :(

Steve

If you are using a standard stereo then all you need to do is fit a connector into pin 2 I think of the black ISO connector to the stereo, this will mute the radio when a signal is fed to it.

I can double check if you need and get a part number of the correct terminal for the ISO block (did one the other day when fitting SmartNav to a Superb).

I hope its that higher mounted braket that they get, might be work asking specially for that. It seems more practical like you said as the lower one would get knee'd all the time :thumbdwn:

I'll post some pic's up when its in...

Hopefully someone in the know will be able to tell me if that lead is the right one so i can get it ordered and then book the installation folk to come and work there magic

But I think the Autoleads adaptor will also put the phone conversation through the car's speakers, if I understand the blurb correctly? I've always just used the standard Nokia speaker fitted in the passenger footwell and found the quality and volume fine. I'm now thinking of using an Autolead for the Fabia install though :D

Steve

Just looking round that website you linked to, perhaps you could use one of the Audi Autoleads? Someone will have to advise whether or not THIS ONE would be compatible, but it might be an idea? Especially if Skoda Symphony units are the same as the Audi Symphony units?

That would be great if you could mate.

Am i right in beleiving that the ISO block is the block of connections that plugs into the back of the stereo then ?

With me not being that well up on these things, once the stereo has muted how would it then get the sound to come out of all the speakers ?

A good place to fit the Nokia speaker in the Fabia is directly under the air controls, back against the vertical panel behind the storage tray. A couple of self-tappers hold it nicely and you can still keep bits and pieces in the tray under the speaker. The speaker points forward to you and you can hear it easily even at speed.

It's easy to make a bracket like the Dashmount one for nothing - just cut a couple of inches off an old bit of 'Dexion' angle.

Yeah the ISO connectors are the two 8 pin blocks (one brown one black). They are called ISO as they are an ISO standard fitment so all the connections are the same regardless of vehicle. With the exception of the permanent and igntion live feeds which can be switched.

The pin in postion 2 will only mute the headunit, for audio you will either need an external speaker or a fitting kit of some kind. If you wired it directly to one of the vehicle speakers it would work though which you could do from the brown speaker ISO connector. If you wired it into the right front one you would be able to hear it no problems I would have thought.

The Autoleads telemute will do the job. It has a connection in pin 2 which is wired to the mute line from the car kit to activate the head unit muting. This line also activates a relay or two that switches between the audio from the head unit to the audio from the car kit.

The only thing to beware of is that you DO NOT get keypad tones through the car speakers unless you are "in a call". ie if you are typing in a number to dial you will not hear the tones generated by the button presses on the phone.

On the Audi units you can route phone audio though the head units on some of the connections on the 20way mini iso that the CD changer connects to. Dont know if ross can look that up.

The "power" iso also carries CAN bus on certain vehicles;)

Cheers mate....

I would like to go the autoleads route as a couple of people at my work have bought them for their cars and they seem to be really good

Hi there,

For the Skoda, even with Symphony (is not the same as the Audi Symphony) will require on 06-050B and if using a CK-7W a 06-208B adaptor as well.

Wonder how i found you guys? Checking my webstats and found a few links from this thread to my site.

I probably wont get much time to pop on here as I have my own forum to run but will try and help with any car kit info you guys may need.

Regards

Terry

Just been informed that on later 54 plate onwards cars the 06-050B is not suitable, you will have to use an 06-059B instead, this is because the 06-050b has problems with the can bus signals and if connecting the mute it can make the radio say PHONE even with the key out the ignition.
