Pads + Disc Query

Featured Replies

One of the downsides of the Furby being the Mrs. daily is that when things aren't right, I don't drive it often enough to tell. Tonight braking I was getting a lot of noise from the rear and none from the front (none at all when braking downhill).

Checking the pads, the fronts seem ok and the back seem errr. 'thin'. As I'm going to need to try and fit this in tomorrow can I ask how much people expect a set of Pads to cost? (per pair or whatever).

Secondly, is there an easy way to work out if there's been any damage to the discs? I can't see any obvious grooves etc but one of the pads seemed to stick and pull a little bit on the shopping run tonight. I'm hoping they're fine.

Thanks in advance

The rear discs are noisy on mine. I did a couple of hundred yards with the handbrake on a couple of notches but they're still quite noisy (in a grindy as opposed to squealy way). Noisy rears are a bit of an issue with the Fab so I just ignore it. Even after new discs and pads it'll start doing it again soon after when the discs start to corrode again.

I just bought some 40 Groove Discs & Mintex pads (Front & Rear) from Brake Depot on Ebay for £137 + Free Delivery

Ill be upgrading to TT or Leon Fronts eventually but it needed brakes and these have bedded in well

There's little corrosion mind, thats what I thought originally as it did it when it was snowing (i.e. when there was a tonne of salt on the road). I should have checked then.

It definately needs new rears soon though.

Got the same problem, My rears are almost down to the metal and they grind and rust on to the disc if the cars left for a few days.

Going to be ording new disc's and pads all round as well as renewaling most front steering and suspension bits. Anyway in my search I found these two websites.
