Bye bye oversteer and Torque Steer

Featured Replies

Hey guys and girls probably one of my first post's on here, I've not been on for a good while!

I've been enjoying my 05 plate Fabia VRS for about 5 months now and I love it, It's had a great remap and K&N Filter fitted so its shifting well!

One downside Is with all this torque, pulling away in first and second without copious amounts of wheelspin is such a challenge and I'd love to be able to make full use of all the torque the car has, third gear and after is fine.

By fitting a RARB and spring kit will this help prevent that? Seems to be a lot of kick back in acceleration thats causing the front wheels to go crazy and gain no traction, I'm sure you guys know exactly how it is!

Any pointers?

While the springs and RARB should help improve handling and body roll I doubt they'll help with the wheelspin in any way. My only suggestion is better clutch control and/or more grippy tyres. If you are wheelspinning in 1st and 2nd all the timie either your tyres are goosed or you are hammering your clutch and putting down too much power when pulling away. Be careful as if the remap is quite high torque you will kill the standard clutch driving like that. Is your car specced with ESP or ASR?

Better tires...

Better remap (without a torque spike at 1800rpm)

Thanks for the quick replies!

I tend to be really easy on the clutch but it seems If i want smooth acceleration with no spin I have to ease the accelerator on and then Im loosing out on a lot of the potential power. I'll take on board the tyres as I know they are running quite low on tread but still within the limit.

The car has ESP yes but it doesnt seem a great deal help in 1/2nd gear although like i said third and upwards is perfect!

thanks again

Any reccomendations as per all of these? And if you dont mind what exactly does the dog bone mount do?

Thank you

its a new engine mount. im not sure how it would reduce wheelspin or torquesteer tho, hope jase gets backs to you on that. hth

I've got all of those and it's still a handfull :D

Better tires...... lets face it in this climate / weather is there any? best waiting until spring / summer and getting some Yokohama Parada's

Better Remap.... one without the massive surge of torque at 1800rpm which all it will do is spin tires and wreck your clutch, aim for peak torque higher up the rev range

Limited Slip Diff.... for an o2M box, available from quaiffe through jabbasport

Uprated DogBone Mount.... will reduce engine movement under load thus reducing 'wheel hop' and improving traction
