Couple of Q's. EGR and turbo theory.

Featured Replies

Hi. So i started fitting my EGR delete.

So far i have taken everything off i need to.

The manifold that the egr attaches to is think (like 5mm) with crud... i can scrape it with my fingers.

Is it hard to take this off to clean? Will do at a later date if not.

Also, there seemed to be a fair bit of oil in all the pipes and through the EGR. How does the EGR get oil into it and therefor into the upper IC pipes?

Then, the EGR kit comes with a blanking plate, and then one with a hole in?

Do i only have to use 1, the blanking, and does it go straight onto the turbo fanimold.#

Which way does the oil go? As in, im losing alot of oil atm. Which pipe do i check for turbo seals? Where is oil return pipe, does the air flow from the turbo into the egr?

Thanks :)

Just had a nice little read through... is this really worth fitting?

The chance of runaway etc.

Only thing with mine was that it was leaking...

boost pipes get oil in from the crank case vent....

then the oil mixed with the exhaust gasses from the EGR, these 2 mixing together makes that horrbile tar.... which can't be good for an engine

you put the blank plate straight onto the turbo

DO IT!

Okay :) Time to get cracking on cutting that metal ring off the pipe then lol

If i have oil control rings gone say... where would there be signs of oil? Or just burnt straight off?

Have you checked both the breather pipes? Ie the one that returns off the rocker cover to the sump? If this were blocked then the oil would be breather heavily into the inlet.

Well all done and fitted haha. Took loads of pics so might make a guide since i couldnt find one relevant!

And ive checked the one that goes from the crankcase to the inlet...

wheres the other?

DO IT!

egr blank goes onto exhaust manifold.
