Featured Replies

Hi i recently installed an external hard drive to my MDI socket in my Fabia quite pleased with the result after reading advice from a couple of posts but can anyone tell me is it possible to get the drive to play back from the last track you listened to rather than it reverting back to the first track on the first folder im sure i have read somewhere on the forum about this problem.

Hi this is I would suspect either;

1. a drive issue, you could try another drive or perhaps a memory stick to test this.

2. a file structure issue. The MDI wont support a lot of levels in the file structure, the exact numbers are in the handbook.

I have tried memory sticks, walkman, Ipod and a hard drive and all restart from where they left off, providing they are left plugged in to the MDI port.

For your info my drive is a seagate goflex 250gb from Maplin formatted to FAT32 with approx 120gb of music. The drive has 26 top level files labelled A through to Z, each contains artists then albums then tracks so I have a max of 4 levels of file structure. This works ok for me.

I took the advice of another member and bought the Seagate 250gb drive from Maplins..... even after removing the drive and reinstalling at a later date it picks up where it left off!

Be careful with the file sizes as I spent hours ripping wma lossless files which the head unit wouldn't recognise!!!!

I had to download a program to convert to mp3 which took 3 days (5k tracks!)

Still sounds superb though and works a treat :D

I'm still finding it hard to believe you all have 250gb worth of music!

I am probably still just going to get a 16gb pendrive and be done with that.

170GB and rising.

Its not the number of tracks, its the quality thats important, I have a lot of 320kbps music, and it takes a lot of space. I started collecting/digitsing it all years ago on a PC that was only fast enough to convert the CD realtime, how times have changed.
