Featured Replies

right guys just passed my mot and got a couple of advisory notes.

1.Nearside front (rear) Suspensionarm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement.

What would you advise me to do?

Thanks in advance Ryan.

Plan on getting the Ibiza Cupra bushes fitted before the next MOT.

Probably best sooner rather than later cos when they start to go they eat tyres.

Is it worth replacing them then?

Will you be replacing them yourself? As the polybush's will be much easier to fit if doing it diy

no wouldn't know where to start.

Ok so after having done a little research people are saying go for the powerflex ones on the front and the cupra on the rear.

I've just fitted polybush's to my dads vrs today, so easy to do!

Seems pretty solid too, in a good way! Not too hard a ride at all..

think i'm just going to leave it for the time been untill they really need changing as i don't have any funds, my cambelt is going to need doing before long too but i don't have a job and don't look like getting one anytime soon!

thing is they will wear out crack, split and then allow movement in your suspension

which puts your geometry out and as previous post will destroy your tyres

Speak to Unit 18 is you are anywhere near (or preparred to travel to) Northampton

Ali did mine at about a third of the price of everywhere else

Get the new uprated Skoda ones, they've been improved by Skoda and don't have any of the downsides of the Seat or Powerflex ones.

What downsides are there from the powerflex ones?

The main on is having to tell the insurance company.

The second is the harsher ride and extra noise transmitted by the harder bushes.

Most people fit the OEM cupra bushes so it all looks standard and it improves the handling.

I've had exactly this last MOT. How urgent is replacement for this advisory?

I'm sure bushes were done on buying the car two years ago as it was clunking on the test drive. I know the offside should all be new as had all offside suspension parts replaced after an incident with a very high kerb. No clunks as yet, but starting to feel the steering might not be as direct as used to be, though this might well be my imagination/paranoia?

Wonder if my aftermarket warranty covers it - might as well get my moneys worth on that!

I think it would come under wear and tear being a suspension/moving part so not covered. Check the wording.
