Lights on Buzzer Algorithm

Featured Replies

The buzzer and door warning light on my Octavia II is has stopped working and I suspect a missing earth and here is my reasoning:

1) All door locking functions work as they should.

2) Interior lights work as they should.

3) Rear doors operate the dash warning light. BUT........

4) Neither front door operates said light and the lights on buzzer does not sound.

Now I am no rocket scientist and I cannot find a circuit or wiring diagram yet but I know the general wiring for the buzzer is the live being picked up from the light switch and the earth is provided by the door switch.

This says to me that the rear doors and the front doors have separate earths.

Now all I need to know is where is the one for the front doors/buzzer.

The buzzer is part of the dash insert/cluster.

The door switches are connected to the control unit in each door and these talk to the CCU (central convenience unit).

The CCU controls the light and tell the cluster to buzz.

You can try disconnecting the battery for ten minutes to reset the CCU.

will this cause any further problems such as decode the keys or the radio?

There is usually no problem. It is always advisable to have the radio code handy just in case, but it is rarely required.
