Flasher relay and brake light switch

Featured Replies

My flasher relay has started to jam now n then, needing a tap on the dash to get it working again, might try cleaning it but recon i might need a new one. Question is did i read somewhere that it's possible to swap it with one off a golf that does one touch flashing (ie flashes about times)?? Or was it on some other forum lol

Brake light switch is sticking on now n then, possible a quick spray will fix it?? or is it a new one??

In order to add the "one touch" to the indicators there is an additional bit of loom which you drop into the dash behind the relay/hazard switch. I know I wrote a post about this a year or so ago.... the challenge is if the search can find it!

No harm is trying to take the brake switch a quick spray.... nothing ventured and all of that!

The kit in the link is all you need. It includes the 'relay' which is in fact an electronic control unit

Maybe I misunderstood your question a bit.

The kit doesn't replace the existing hazard unit - it works with it. Apart from the kit, no extra relays are required.

If you have a faulty hazard unit, you need to replace it. Reading your last post, it looks like you were hoping that you could avoid buying a replacement hazard switch. Sorry you can't.

The one touch indicator kit costs more than the hazard light switch anyway.

Bummer somehow thought there was a relay behind the switch, but the switch is the relay. Best place for a new switch??

Can someone tell me if there is a dedicated fuse to the indicators for the mrk 1 octavia please.

my indicators stopped working so i changed the hazard relay . hazards work fine, but still no indicators. before I buy a new indicator lever is there a fuse that could have blown? As I can not see one and there is not a fuse diagram to show what fuse does what???

Help is really doing my head in now. lol

Fuses F2 and F39 feed the hazard unit. Do the indicator lights actually flash when you put the hazard switch on?

With the wires to the hazard unit being so short, it's easy to lose one.

My guess is the black/white/green wire that should go to pin one of the hazard unit. It may have fallen off the old unit, so if you moved the wires over one at a time, you may not have realized it was missing.

It could also be the indicator switch itself or the wiring between the two

TPS, your local friendly Stealer or try Jorilly, he usually stocks them and has them in his eBay shop.
