Boost gauge reading issues...

Featured Replies

Evening people!

Fitted my gauges this weekend, all wired up and working fine.

My boost gauge peaks at 10 psi on full power, then a second or two later drops down to around 7/8 psi.

Is this normal?

I forgot to mention that the car is on the standard map, running an uprated diverter valve with the lowest setting spring with a pipercross panel filter.

Yeah that's spot on. You'll only see peak boost under high load (torque), so once you've done the serious work it will tail off.

Point the car up a long steep hill and it'll maintain 10psi most of the way up if you keep it pinned. Do the same on a flat and it will tail off as you've found.

If you hold the car at 2000rpm in 3rd gear on a flat road, then go WOT, you'll see the boost peak at about 3000rpm.

Thats me a happy chappy again now then :D....

I got paranoid as i allways do with cars..."is that pipe on tight enough etc etc".

I thought maybe my d/v was opening after peak boost and opening slightly.

Cheers for the info guys :)
