Seat covers for Scout

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been discussed before (I've search and found nothing apart from what seat covers NOT TO BUY for a VRS! )

After some waterproof(ish) covers to protect the front seats as I have twice bought and returned some 'universal' seat covers that just don't fit so was wondering if anyone else has had any luck?

Many thanks for reading this.

Been a long-time lurker and thought it was about time I posted... and loving our Scout by the way!!!

Ta!

The problem with seat covers is the side airbags!

In the sides of the seats I imagine. I was advised against this for the same reason when I had a Toyota.

Thanks guys.

As far as I'm aware we don't have air bags in the seats, just driver/passenger ones on the steering wheel/front dashboard.

Will double check though to make sure this isn't the case!!!

With ever-lasting house renovations, gardening and 2 dogs our poor Scout is getting just as mucky on the inside as the outside!

I got some covers that are airbag-friendly from Aldi for about £7. They're made from a sort of "trainer mesh" material that vaguely resembles the Scout's upholstery. I'm not a fan of eiher, but Alcantara was expensive and doesn't mix well with kids, chocolate and dogs. I've only used the base in the rear to allow limited use of the split through-load facility.

They've already saved the day when the bag of a precooked chicken burst as I was getting in the car and about to put it in the footwell with the Sunday paper. Quick thinking meant that the greasy liquid stayed on the seat cover which was removed immediately, and sorted out later with a bit of washing-up liquid.

The aesthetics aren't great, but as its my utility car its practicality that wins. Also, the elastic loops seem to find easy tension points around the seat without resorting to the metal hooks that came with the covers.

Not waterproof, but certainly better than nothing, and the standard upholstery looks like it could snag easily.

Just remembered it was Lidl, not Aldi.
