Where is the speed sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have an Octavia MK1. In the last few months I had some problems with the speedometer. Most of the time it measured the speed but when car turned or accelerated it fall back to zero. At that time rev. counter, fuel and temp gauges works without problem.

Garage checked the car and they said it is a problem with the sensor. They replaced it. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. They are not suspecting the instrument as it works when they did run a test on it.

Recently one of my friend read out the faults from my car. It gave the following errors:

2 Faults Found

16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor: Implausible Signal

P0501 - 35-00 - -

16891 - Idle Control System RPM: Higher than Expected.

P0507 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Readiness: 0000 0000

We also run an instrument test and everything on the dashboard seems to be worked.

I am wondering where can i find the G22 sensor? I would like to trace back the cable up to the back of the instrument.

Anybody has a wiring diagram for this car? It is Skoda Octavia MK1 (1.4 16 valves, 55 kW petrol)

Thanks;

Peter

Just an update.

Yesterday I replaced the sensor. I still have the same problem.

It seems the sensor doesn't have the positive voltage on it. Negative is fine.

Anybody has a cabling diagram for the Octavia MK1?
