I have the opposite problem - mine doesn't jack the car up high enough...changed my front tyres, managed to get the old low-tread tyres off, only to find the full-tread tyres wouldn't fit, and the jack wouldn't go up any further. Ended up resorting to deflation...

Stand the jack on a paving slab, Rob - I have to do that on my driveway anyway as it is soft tarmac...

Or I put a big block of wood on the mount of the jack, which also doubles up to protect the sill from the metallic tough edge of the jack.

I have to admit, these Makro jacks don't half go up high! One will lift one wheel of my car at least a foot off the ground, and thats with the suspension drop taken into account. :D

My driveway is on a slope and is that loose shingle stuff, so I had to go to a car park and do it. Shall find a paving slab for next time though... :D
