Got a problem think it could be issue with coil faults , please could someone tell me the easiest way to identify a faulty coil does it need wiring up to some tuning device or is there a simple way of doing this , also is replacement of plugs recommended at the same time .Engine light comes on more frequently now after running car for a while also seems to be mis-firing on start up what would be the best way to identify issue I am thinking starting by changing spark plugs and progressing from there Help anyone please

Could be a spark plug not working correctly?

Unless spark plugs have only been just fitted, replacements would be my first recommendation

towards elimination to problem.

Next would be the high tension leads to the spark plugs.

Ensuring the spark plugs and leads are good, I would then look at fuel-feed/carburetor/ air-leaks or timing fault.

Or a more seriously mechanical fault, ie- burnt valve, piston ring broken, worn cylinder bores.
