CD changer in vrs 55 plate

Featured Replies

I know you can have a cd changer under the passengers seat, but is there any way to get an in-dash changer?

Cheers

I`m sure you can get double din after market units that would do that.

CD changer is dead! MP3 is the way forward!

Ripped @ 320kbs you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference in a car, An 8GB player will hold about 800-1000 tracks, And you take out the car at the end of the day. It would get tiring humphing 50 CD's in and out the car daily!

This also preserves your CD's

Something for you to think about!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I think, theoretically, the single din VAG changer seen in superbs? and most VW's will work, but it won't have the right fascia to integrate well.. it'll look a bit out of place.

I think someone, maybe more, has installed the single din VAG changer in the bottom part of the glove box in the past?

This is all just vague stuff I can remember though.

TBH, although i'm installing the changer under my seat, CD is dead & MP3 is the way forward. I'm doing it because I can't stand mp3 and it's another OEM item I can install... and yes, before anyone says it .. I CAN hear the difference... but i'm odd, 90% of people can't.

Even if it's a sound quality thing, you can encode your music to whats known as a lossless format, where it's simply compressed on a data level, the audio remains identical to that of the CD when played back. I'm sure most mp3 enabled Head units can play back a lossless format, but look into it before parting with cash.

Of course, another route is the aux in / iPod in & control boxes you can buy that connect to the back of the symphony Head unit through the existing changer port and do what they say on the tin... 1 is a 3.5mm stereo jack to which any music playback device can be attached.. the other can actually give you control of an iPod from the CD changer control buttons on the symphony.
