Faulty dash dimmer switch

Featured Replies

Hi hope someone can help me with this

I have been having problems with the small dial by the side of the headlight switch on my Skoda VRS.

It has been ok for ages and then the other day I noticed the lights on the dashboard didn't look as bright as normal.

I checked the dimmer to check it hadn't been knocked when cleaning out the car, but the lights wont get any brighter and this aint helping on these dark nights and mornings.

I never alter the brightness of the dash lights and I read a previous post saying you could bypass this altogether by bridging the dash light to give full illumination, but there was no instructions on how to do this?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated :)

The dimmer output that feeds connection 58b in the loom and is PWM. Connecting 58b in the loom to B+ seems to lead to premature failure of the lighting in the dash insert and/or failure of the lighting amplifier module.

If spraying some cleaner in it doesn't work, then IIRC, you can can get the instrument lighting control separately.
