Recommend me a new ATi Graphics Card?

Featured Replies

Cheers guys, a couple of various budgets would be highly appreciated. Current spec is below.

AMD Phenom 9850 2.5Ghz Black Edition Quad Core Processor (these have been known to be overclocked to 3Ghz+).

Asus M3a79-T Deluxe Motherboard

Corsair XMS2 PC6400 800Mhz DDR2 Memory (2 x 2Gb / 2048Mb)

Western Digital 500Gb Hard Drive

Corsair TX 850W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant Power Supply

nVidia 9500GT Super 512Mb

Coolermaster Musketeer

Generic Case

DVD-RW Optical Drive

Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit (Genuine Version)

Is that your current spec or what you are thinking of buying?

ATI dont exist any more, they are all branded AMD now.

What to get depends on what you want to do with it and what you can afford; there is little difference between the lower end 5000 and 6000 kits, and either will drive most modern games a refresh rates far higher than you actually need. The 4000 series are a mixed bunch, check carefully if you decide to go budget as some of the lower cards over clock better than the more expensive cards.

Look are the reviews and performance comparisons, and then look at the prices.

One other word of wisdom, XFX cards seem to be suffering higher failure rates than other brands, if what is being said on the Aria forum is correct.

That's what I've got atm but tbh thinking of getting rid, thought £375 for that, 15" flatscreen, keyboard, mouse, 5.1 surround sound + several games would be fair.

Oh right, knew they were working together didn't realise they'd actually merged as such yet :). As for what I'd want to do with the card, mainly be gaming at highest settings. Only got a 15" monitor I play on though so can't imagine I'd need anything too fancy.

Thanks for your input so far guys.
