Skoda Joyster in todays Auto Express

Featured Replies

According to today's Auto Express Skoda will present a Scirocco based coupe before the end of the year named Joyster like the concept car. The artists impression in the magazine looks gorgeous, I would certainly sign up for one!

Hope it's true but I suspect it might be ******; haven't heard any word of this car coming before and now they say it will be launched this year.

I'll be reading that when I get home.

There is supposed to be a car comparison test with the Fabia VRS in there too today.

It is indeed true that a sub - Fabia sized three door model will be launched in the UK this year. Whether it will be called the Joyster I do not know. The artist impressions in Auto Express are a cross between the original Joyster concept vehicle which was a very boxy affair, and the current VW Scirocco. No official communication has come from Skoda UK regarding images, pricing or launch date, but trust me, this car is DEFINATELY coming to our shores in 2011.

Yes, but the model you talk about is Skoda's version of the VW Up! and not a Scirocco based vehicle I think?

Well if it is the rocco based car and they do a good Diesel lump in it then i may have to swap in the Vrs :giggle:

Scirocco based car surely can't be sub-fabia in size? this MUST be the Up?

how can it be the UP if its the joyster ?emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Had a quick chat with my local dealer principal today who next weekend is off to Prague for a World dealer conference, were they are going to announce a small 3 door city car and a car about Audi A3 size to sit between the Fabia and Octavia.

Love my Occy vRS... but sometime wish I could have the 2L engine without so much weight to carry. Would be looking to change in 2012/13. This would be good...

... but would it be a better deal to buy a low mileage second hand Scrirocco? I'll have to think about that one.

It's nice to be able to carry my bike in the Octavia's boot, but I'd be sorely tempted by this and buy a bike rack. :giggle:

The Skoda will still be cheaper!!! emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Well that could be a Joyster but I had been led to believe that this car would be a budget saloon. I know that Skoda's chief designer had been keen on penning a coupe, here's hoping Skoda surprise us

If Skoda are going to do a coupe, I want it to be called the Rapid. And I'll want to buy one.

The pics in Auto Express are an artists impression, so probably a complete fiction. I suspect they are going to make a 3 door hatch based on the Golf platform but significantly smaller/different from the Octy hatch.

This will allow a cheaper model below the Octy in pauper spec but when blinged up will fulfill the role of a "coupe" version

Making a "coupe" like three door seems to be all the rage in this class. Look at the latest Astra and Megane 3 doors and also the Volvo C30 which is very much a three door hatch based on the S40/V50.

In fact Citroen tried to pull this trick years ago with Xsara 3 door.

Indeed, second hand ones are still going for 17-20K atm.

The original Joyster concept looks far better than this - and was Fabia based. Autoexpressed are famed for their half baked impressions - as this one shows. They clearly just took a Scirocco and grafted a vRS Octavia face on it.

Skoda have just registered a load of names with the trademark authorities in CZ including "Skoda Rapid"...
