P1040 and P2146 errors

Featured Replies

Just had a heart attack with my local garage. My car broke down yesterday, glowplug light came on then the car went into limp mode. Would not start again. Then after the engine went cold it would run as normal when the garage tried it, but it then cut out again. He has now put it on a BOSCH system and its showing fault code P1040 and P2146. He has told me that it could be one of the Injectors, but the car now has to go to a skoda garage for them to put on the vag. The car is going to be taken there on Monday so as a matter of interest I phone another skoda dealer to see what the prices of injectors are and I was quote £570 each. I'm sure I've gone white as a sheet. Can anyone on here advise if they know about these fault codes, or are aware of a similar problem. Thanks

If it turns out to be an injector problem, does anyone know a company that sells them cheaper than skoda? and ate they worth it?

Don't worry yourself by jumping to conclusions. We had a PD engined Fabia in the other week, where the customer had booked it in to have a fuel injector replaced as he had been told by another garage that an injector was the problem. We elected to do our own diagnosis and ended up curing the fault by replacing the injector wiring loom. With the loom price at 10% of that of an injector, the customer was happy.
