PAS Light

Featured Replies

Right once again i have been down to skoda today to have the codes read for the Intermittent PAS light fault. Only seems to come on first thing in the morning, and sometimes if starting and stopping.

First time it went to skoda they said it was due to my faulty key

Fourth attempt with them today as PAS light is still coming on from start up, but goes off if engine switched off and restarted, and they have told me their are no fault codes stored.

Told them i'd had it code read and had the following codes

18009- relay for supply voltage terminal 30 implausible signal

01598-Drive battery voltage signal to low intermittent

Fitter told me he had never heard of them, and they don't use vag com as it pulls random codes.

Code read it again when i got back from skoda and have

01598 Drive battery Voltage implausible signal, y

et the skoda code reader is pulling no codes.

Totally at a loss on what to do next now as skoda said they need the car when the light is on to be able to find the fault.

Any suggestions folks

Ta

Sounds like low battery voltage to me..lol

Faulty battery earth leads are a known issue and there is a tech bulletin on them now.

Do you have a battery light coming on with the ignition?

Yip been debating on the battery, it has at some point been renewed as it's not OE

Batt light comes on with Ignition, then goes out once started, charging all ok too

where about can i find the bulletin ?

cheers

What size is the battery in ah?

I'd take the negative terminal off of the battery and sand paper it, also remove the earth strap and clean that up too, it can't hurt. Next time you take the car to the garage ask them to carry out a VAS 6060 test.

Not sure, VAS 6161 is a battery tester so maybe it's like that?

Sorry, meant to type 6161, it's the new(ish) battery tester introduced into skoda workshops. (Quote related)

Yeah that's our one, thought you did just teasing ;)

Haha, we have the exact same red trolley that comes with it, good bit of kit, stick it between two ramps and you can smart charge cars as you service them.

Yeah, use the tester all day now, print off on every service and VHC. Up sold plenty of batteries that are weak or dying over winter.

I pretty much do a battery test on everything that passes through the workshop, it's quick and easy to use so i just do it as the vas 5052 is running GFF. I've actually used it to claim batteries off of warranty for brand new 60 plate cars that're coming from factory with faulty batteries.

Same as me then, we got 5052a with Bluetooth so just pop the dongle in and away it goes.

id go for the earth strap though, about £12 iirc
