White Wire?

Featured Replies

hi, i`ve bought an 05 plate 1.4tdi fabia classic, i`ve fitted alot to this car already. central locking kit, electric front windows, remote kit fot the locks, a set of parking sensors and cruise control. all have been fitted fine except the cc. its all fitted and installed ok other than the white wire, any ideas where it goes???? any help would be apricated

Eventually it goes to pin 14 on the engine ecu, you can go direct or to the connection point on the bulkhead behind the dash. This will help...

With yours being a 1.4 though there is a pretty good chance you have a 6q2 central electrics ecu which means it won't work, that would need checking first.

thanks for that, makes it much clearer, so i just extend it and add it to the engine control unit. The ecu thing under the dash is the problem one yer?, i think i found a link while searching the other day saying that if my plugs are on either side of the ecu im ok, but if one lot runs down the middle i need to change it, does that sound right?

Yeah that's pretty much it.

cool cheers mate, thanks for the help

Out of interest do the door carriers need to come out to fit the electric window kit? (I assume you fitted the genuine kit).

the window kit was the vag one, i removed the speaker to route the wires and sliced my arm up a bit but saved me from haveing to disturb the inner skin of the door,

Does that kit fit the switches isn the centre console under the radio by chance? If so it's the same as we fitted to the early Sports, sliced myself a few times doing them..lol

Removing speaker genius idea, if that's all it needs at the door end I might try get hold of a kit for when I change the speakers and seal up the carrier. I assume the stub the manual wiper handle fixes to can be removed from the outside then?

Yeah it just unbolts. But the kit although genuine doesn't make it factory if you know what I mean, a motor you mount drives the old manual mechanism.

yer i just removed the door card and speaker, unbolted the manual winder and bolted in the electric one and fed the wires along the existing wires in the doorthru the gromet, then wedged my arm inside the speaker hole and fed the wires into the gromet. once inside the car all it was just trims and wire routing that took the time. switches went under the radio in the cubby hole thing, was justr a case of wiring them in. ive been doing all the bits to my car in my lunch break only an hour and have always had to have the car in a drivable condition to get home. even so only took me two hours (two lunch breaks.
