Brake bleeding, Octy vRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have bought an ezeebleed brake bleeder but after doing a search on here it has confused me, so now i dont know if i want to do it as many people seem to encounter problems!

One post states that the Octavia MUST be bled R/O/S, R/N/S, F/O/S, F/N/S, however another states RNS, ROS,FNS,FOS?

There is also mention of bleeding the clutch and the two nipples on the MS itself, so 7 nipples total, is that right?

So, what is the right sequence? Do all 7 nipples get bled? will 2 litres 5.1 suffice?

Kind regards,

Neil.

You don't need to bleed the 2 nipples on the mc unless air has got in there, or the system has run dry.

As for the order, I'm not usre. I'm just about to do this to mine. Got the eezibleed kit and 2l of fluid. Apparently you can scrape it with 1l, but it's cheap, so I bought plenty.

AFAIK, you do the furthest point first, so I guess it would be ROS, RNS, FNS, FOS. The brake pipes go from the MS on the drivers side, to the abs module on the passenger side, down the passenger side of the car. This way, the ROS would be the longest pipe.

Thanks for that, you doing the clutch aswell?

Really if your doing each individual pipe it doesn't really make a lot of odds to be honest. But the order above is normally regarded as best. Most of our workshop manuals says different but they are all written for the master cylinder being on the other side..lol

Yeah, gonna do the clutch too. Might as well if I have enough fluid.

Teh1e, cheers for that. Just out of interest, how do you change the clutch fluid, I take it you just open the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder, like you would do on the brakes?

Yes just do it whilst the easy bleed is on. Does go through fluid though be be careful not to run out.

ok thanks, this might sound stupid but can it be done with wheels ON, and to get to the clutch nipple is it from under the car or can it be reached from the engine bay?

Neil.

From above, through the engine bay. It's on the RHS of the engine (if you are standing at the front of the car) just above the bell-housing.

Thanks.

Do any sequence as your using a one-way brake-bleed system, if there's no air in system to begin with eh!

I found it much easier to have two people,

one being very fit and able to squeeze and move around lying on the ground easily. LOL

Suggest chock wheels and drop off handbrake, you haven't got to, but it does operate the rear rear caliper brake pistons.
