Climate Control

im use to my clios climate control which is left in auto set at 20c the system manages the switching on/off of a/c i may have got the idea wrongly that the auto function in the fabia/polo doesnt manage the a/c but uses it all the time :|

does it actually get cold the renaults system only seems capable of a cool breeze

Hopefully someone can say for sure, but every VW/Skoda I've owned has had climatronic - the VW climate control system which blows a cool breeze quite happily all day long. It lowers the fan speeds once the temp is correct, but not sure about turning off fully.

There's an ECO mode on most if not all climatronics which tries to keep the temp right, but not convinced it has ever worked as I'd expect - maybe I got the wrong end of the stick. Always seems to end up with the cabin getting stuffy.

The Econ Mode turns off the A/C compressor, does its best to maintain the temp, but on a hot day does not stand a chance,

IIRC the climate control does not turn off the A/C compressor unless you turn the system off or press the ECON button, otherwise the compressor is running all the time and the temp is maintained by using the heater to warm the incoming air to the required temperature. This also means that in the winter you can have warmed, dried air to demist the windows.

looking at the fabias handbook the cooling is only active above +2 with the a/c on

theirs no eco mode it also recommends a temperature of 22c

corect, Climate control has no eco mod, however there is a button to turn the AC off. Very good system. Always seems to be blowing out cold on mine though!

ac runs at 16deg cent in summer feels cold. In winter good for defrosting

I have mine set to 22deg and generally with the AC off. Dont really need it on with this cold weather (except sometimes to help demist windows) found that the heater is quite good. Dont forget though to turn on your AC for a while every now and again, AC doesnt like beening turned off for too long IIRC

Right. Also mine climatic when is set to 22 and the compressor is off, most of the times blowing rather cold than warm air, so i have to move the indicator between 22 and 26 and then the air is warm. I heard the same complaints from Yeti 1.2Tsi and Octavia 1.2Tsi owners. An explanation of this (as i heard) is that our engine is quite small but her cooling labyrinth is quite long (big) so keeping her temp low. I really don't think so. Both Octavia 1.6 MY '02(with climatronic always set to 22), and Fabia 1.2 12v MY '06 (with climatic always set to 22) i owned were blowing quite warm almost hot air when the compressor was off.

At summer time though the a/c works fine, even with ambient temperature above 39 - 40 Centigrades.
