Upgraded Rear Brakes

Featured Replies

I need to sort my brakes out ASAP. Brembo's for the front but what do I need for the back?

What's the common conversion and what pads should I go for?

Is there a company that re-furbs callipers so they come back as-new?

Octavia vrs/Leon cupra/2wd TT`s all the same, all straight fit.

Would you not need a larger master cylinder with 4 pots on front and a larger pot on rear?

I'm sure there's an equation for it somewhere :D

I have 256mm brakes from the Octavia I on mine, with an adjustable balance box so they actually kick in. They were done by McKinstry Motorsport in Banbridge and they are very good indeed with the 312mm TT fronts.

The general concensus is that uprated rears are not required though as once you can lock the fronts the ABS robs you of any more power and teh braking balance on the standard car is something like 75% to the fronts.

Would have thought NO to this idea, as once system has been filled and primed.

Very little amount of fluid would actually (as before the change-over), drop the level.

If you have Brembos up front new standard rear will be just fine.

Jabba Sport said exactly the same when I was talking to them about upgrading my VRS.

Oh yeah for actual braking force the rears as standard do the job. But they look tiny, which is my reason for wanting to upgrade

If you go too far with upgrading the rears then they are more liable to lock up. Look Out Ditch! Ok for drifting though.

Pointless mod. Most rear discs have to be replaced because of corrosion due to under use. The ABS/EBD limits the amount of work the rear brakes do anyway.

If the point is to aesthetically improve the looks of the rear wheels then, by definition, it can't be pointless.

They look tiny so yeah just want bigger brakes to be honest.

Comp brake do a 330mm kit for teh rear!

If you handbraking yeah maybe, but not just braking hard, they do **** all anyway.

It looks better having a wheel filled with brake instead of air, so as said, doesnt make it pointless.

thinking back, the standard rears on th'ibiza looked lost compared to the 256mm, especially with 312's and AP calipers. worth it just for the looks

HEL lines are better than goodridge and cheaper. I say better as they are stainless all the way through! www.brakelines.co.uk

So these will fit OK?

What's the price like and would I need anything else to fit them?

How would I go about getting braided hoses? Can someone link me to a kit?

What brake fluid should I run?

Spot on, depending on state or discs and pads no, they bolt straight on after trimming the heat shield.

Sorry to revive this thread but thinking of splashing out and buying Ksport 8pot 330mm front brakes and then Ksport 4pot 286mm rear brakes.. Would this be a safe option for the rears as I know the bias has to be a certain ratio? Thanks

That'll be pricey, do the rear calipers have a hand brake on them?

Luke (xa0sx), used to have the 8pot Ksport's on the front and Octavia vRS 256mm on the rear.... He used to drive as hard as anyone I know and they were spot on. There's photo's somewhere of his front brakes glowing orange :p
