I've just been into my PM folder and found a pile of old messages missing, one of which I need an answer to, so.......

1/

Who was the member who wanted to swop the boot fittings and spare wheel over, and lived near Colchester, Essex. I need to get in touch urgently.

SWMABO has acquired an MP3 player. Not an ipod, just a simple player. We can get music onto it and hear it on the headphones, but now she's found out it might play through Dewi's magic buttons!!

So, what do I need to connect said magic music box to the little plug in the cubby box?

3.5mm jack lead - about £3.

I presume that has 2 jack plugs on it, 1 for the magic music box headphone outlet and the other for the cubby box?

(said before I'm a luddite)

Trevorminor, was it you and the spare?

Yes that's right.

Skoda sell one for many pennies. Probably pick one up locally or plenty on the 'Bay

Spot on!

Now purchased!!

I got two Å koda ones with my car. One short 20cm one for front seat passenger use and one long 150cm one so the are-we-there-yets in the back can have one too should I deem to allow them the pleasure of interacting with my Bolero.

I don't know if any of you are using this connection (3,5mm jacks) to play music via the Yeti sound system, but I find it very quiet, even on the loudest setting for the AUX (level 3, if I remember correctly). Tried it with both long and short cables (silly me to think that the impedance of the cable might be the problem :giggle:). SWING system here, to be more precise.

And, if someone is wondering - you can control nothing more than the volume via the dashboard in this way, as it's stated in the manual.

Normally you need a tiny amplifier between the MP3 player and the head unit. Though I've found all I need to do is up the volume on the MP3 player BEFORE you feed it to the car. Job done. This works on my Classic iPod and my iPhone (if not streaming to the Bolero via Bluetooth).

WEY HEY!!

I'm impressed!!

Cable arrived today and I've just been out and tried it, and lo-and-behold when I pressed the AUX button I got music!! Volume can be controlled by the Bolero volume as well.

Now we've got to work out how many CD's we can fit onto the Mp3 and the SD card before we go to France, so we don't have a box of CD's around madam's feet.

I've got six CDs on a 512k card with room to spare. So 12 on 1M card?
