Has anyone tried Rotordiscs?

Featured Replies

They've been discussed before, but I don't know if anyone's actually tried them out.

I fail to see how they could really improve braking due to the saw-tooth edge anyway. The pads are not pressing against that area so you're not increasing your braking area at all. Having said that, it does give space for the heat to dissipate towards the edge so maybe, under prolonged use, they work better?

In any case, I would have thought that the material they're made of and how the braking area surface works with pads to have a higher impact than the fancy edge :)

Yeah i don't think the edge is the issue, that looks more of a cosmetic thing, and possibly weight saving. Some motorcycles have these wavy discs fitted now. Would just like to hear from someone who has used them to see if they are any good :)

Seen similar on a scoob, more "cog" shaped, pretty but can only be extra (unsprung at that) weight..

I posted a thread about them a while back, i think they look great, ive been told there nosier than nomal discs.

They look like a modified EBC Turbogroove disk, and wouldnt be suprised if they are the same, just with the saw tooth design...

Grooved disks do make a 'whiir' noise when they heat up and are applied quite hard, but i rather like the sound :D

Day to day normal driving (i.e not going mad) theres no noise at all

work on motorbikes as the wavy edge means more surface area for heat to dissipate, well i think thats what i've read somewhere.

but its probably just the sales talk we get told and we eventually believe!!!!

i think they are that shaped to increase air flow. cause they are ventet at each sticky out bit there is a slot to allow more air in as the disc turns compared with a normal vented disc

maybe....:D

I think its just a marketing gimmick so chavs buy them... 180mm discs behind 18" rims

yeah i thinks so but thats the theory! lol
