Sticking number-plates on

Featured Replies

How do you guys stick your front number-plate onto your bumper?

I don't like the look of screws, and sticky pads from motor-factors don't seem to work :-(

Think mine are stuck using double sided (foam) tape. Use lots though!

I got 36 of them off eBay for about 4 quid and only using 3 of them proved a struggle to get off. I'll try and find a link for you.

I wanted to know the same thing. I've got some dubmeister metal pressed plates and the foam tape seems to be failing pretty easily. Might just Aradite them to my Brisky plate surrounds.

I've always used the sticky pads from halfords and had no problems.

Always make sure the surface is clean, free of any grease and dry and they should be fine.

Would have thought double-sided sticky carpet tape would do the job.

OR

Super glue some type of spacer on rear of number-plate, then super-glue that to bumper.

I assume you haven't got plans to remove it once number-plate is in place.

Foe those with metal plates get plate holders :)

Double sided tape in two rows, completely covers the back of the plate except for 5mm round the edges.

A bit time consuming to get off but they don't go missing. ;)

Sticky Foam Pads Halfords did it for me!

halfords stuff pretty good, £2.50 for 3 strips i think

My mate works at audi, got me a roll of the pads they use to put new cars plates on

The metal pressed plates have an uneven back, so nothing sticky is going to be effective because the contact area is small. To aviod screws with pressed plates do as mentioned earlier and use plate holders to keep them in place.

I found that the plastic bit on the front bumper wasn't very good for getting things to stick to it and the curve in it didn't help either.

I used some fine sandpaper to roughen up the surface a little and then used a couple of the foam pads as normal. Worked a treat.

Plate holders here, work a treat.
